Alice Wright, who lives in Roscommon, has specialised in care of the elderly for the last 30 years.
Before that she had worked in acute hospital care in Belfast for 20 years.
Alice says she feels nursing managers are overburdened with unnecessary paper work resulting in less time to do the job of caring for people.
She welcomed the initial introduction of HIQA in 2007, but now feels they don't offer any support to nursing homes, and are overly negative in their approach.
Alice spoke to Anne Norris on the Let's Talk show today.
