A Lanesboro businessman is calling for the government to appoint someone to work on projects in the area which are being proposed after the loss of local ESB and Bord Na Mona jobs.

Joe O' Brien, who's a founder member of the Lanesboro Ballyleague Collaboration Group says that while several projects have been identified in terms of tourism and local industry, the area needs to have the ear of senior government to progress them quickly.

The local businessman says that over a year after the closure of the ESB station in the area it's clear that Lanesboro is long forgotten.

He says despite promises made by Leo Varadkar and Micheal Martin, few if any jobs are being created locally, with just a handful being offered by ESB in a proposed storage facility on its old site.

The local businessman was speaking on the Let's Talk show.
