The Market Square in Longford Town is currently undergoing significant rejuvenation works as part of the Longford Connects Programe.
The Project will focus on creating a better connection between Grafton Court and the Market Square and involves the installation of new footpaths, lighting and signage, as well as street furniture and landscaping.
The project has proven contentious over the last number of weeks, with some residents citing concerns that the square will become a centre for anti social behaviour following a range of incidents recorded over the last number of years.
However councillor Warnock has confirmed that Longford Gardaí will be targeting the square and the wider area with a new policing plan.
