Works begin on site for new MRI scanner at Mullingar Hospital

It is hoped the works will be complete by this time next year.

Work has started on developing the building for a new MRI scanner at a local hospital.

The former ambulance base at the midlands regional hospital has been recently demolished to facilitate works to house the significant piece of medical equipment. At the Midlands Regional hospital in Mullingar.

Almost one million euro was raised locally across Longford and Westmeath during the last decade for the scanner, with s small shortfall requiring to be bridged before it can become fully operational.

A spokesperson for the Regional Hospital Mullingar has confirmed that building for the MRI commenced six weeks ago.

It is anticipated that construction works will be complete by the beginning of Q4 2022.
