Woman who found drowned dogs in Roscommon issues heartfelt appeal

The two dogs were found last week and their bodies were removed from the water in the last number of days

A reward is being offered for anyone who may have information on the owner of dogs which were dumped in a bog in Roscommon last week.

The local SPCA is offering €1500 to anyone who may be able to reveal who was behind the death of the animals after their discovery in a submerged crate in a pool of water in an area between Ballymoe and Castlerea last week..

Post mortem exams are due to take place on the remains this week , while a third dog, discovered at the scene is also being taken care of by Roscommon SPCA.

The incident has horrified the local community, and Mary Joyce McCarthy, who first reported the incident last week while out for a walks, says it was very traumatic to remove the dogs' bodies from the water.

She is appealing to any dog owner who cannot care for their pets to contact an animal support group before dumping them
