Granard Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the single vehicle accident.

The woman who died following a road crash in north Longford on Sunday has been named locally as Rose Gibney, of Castlepollard, County Westmeath.

Garda investigations are continuing into the circumstances of the fatal crash which occurred close to Lisryan village.

Ms Gibney's car was discovered partially submerged at around 10.30am on Sunday morning and a post mortem is due to be carried out today.

Gardai in Granard are investigating the circumstances of the single vehicle incident and are appealing for witnesses.

They are urging any road users who were travelling in the area between 6pm Saturday evening, and 10:30 Sunday morning to come forward, they're particularly interested in speaking to those who have dash-cam footage.
