Watch: Hundreds attend local vigils in memory of Ashling Murphy

Hundreds of people continued to turn out in towns across the region this afternoon to show solidarity with the family of Ashling Murphy.

The vigil in Longford town took place on the Market Square,  with another being held earlier in the town of Ballymahon outside the local library.

In Mullingar  the local Comhaltas branch paid their own poignant tribute in the Town Park today.

Several other villages and towns also held vigils across the Shannonside region in the last 24 hours.
