The EPA says half a million people are in "at-risk" areas with higher lead levels in their drinking water.

The Government must be shown the importance of upgrading the countries water infrastructure.

That's the view of Cormac MacGearailt, an Inspector in the Office of Environmental Enforcement, who believes the country is paying for years of under investment.

The EPA says half a million people are in "at-risk" areas with higher lead levels in their drinking water according to the Drinking Water Quality in Public Supply report for 2022.

The Longford Central Supply, The Granard water supply and the North Roscommon Regional supply are all on the remedial action list maintained by the EPA.

It's calling for Uisce Eireann to speed up its efforts to remove lead pipes from the system.

Cormac has called for people to make it clear to those in power, that work is needed.
