The lack of activities requiring a vaccination cert have resulted in less of an uptake of the booster.

A Longford pharmacist is urging anyone eligible for a Covid booster vaccine to avail of one.

Those aged 55 or over as well as anyone with a weak immune system or who's pregnant are now able to register.

While people aged between 50 and 54 will be offered their second booster jab from next Monday.

Padraig Loughrey believes uptake isn't as strong as it was initially due to the non-requirement for a vaccination certificate to enter bars and restaurants.

However the local pharmacist says the jab will protect people from getting a more serious dose of the virus.

At the current moment its anyone over 55, next week it'll be people over 50.

I would recommend that anyone who is eligible should go and get the second booster.

Just log onto the HSE website and it'll give you a list of which pharmacies are taking part.

Some Pharmacies do it on a booking basis and others are on a walk in basis.
