Upgrades at Longford water plant will not affect service say local Senator

Over 17,000 people across the county were placed under a boil water notice last month following issues at the plant.

Further upgrade works at a key water treatment plan in Longford next year are unlikely to have any impact on service.

Senator Micheal Carrigy has revealed that the first phase of works at the Lough Forbes plant, which began earlier this year, will be completed in early 2022 before phase two of improvements begin.

It's thought that the next stage of refurbishment at the facility, which produces water for thousands of customers every day, will also deal with any future expected demands on capacity

It's just over a week since a month-long boil water notice was lifted in County Longford after an issue at the plant.

The Ballinalee native says customers don't have to worry that they will be affected by an outage of service due to the upgrade works:
