Two men arrested as part of a major Garda investigation into the alleged sale of cannabis-infused vape products and other drug-related items have been charged.
The men, both aged in their 30s, are due to appear before a special sitting of Longford District Court at 5:30pm on Friday.
The charges follow a large-scale Garda operation under Operation Tara, led by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, with assistance from Revenue Customs officers and regional Garda drug units.
Searches were carried out on July 2nd and July 8th at five business premises and two residential properties in Longford, Castlebar, Drogheda and Carlow.
During the searches, Gardaí seized substantial quantities of suspected cannabis-infused jellies, cannabis oil-infused vape products and so-called "reefer" cigarettes.
The drugs have an estimated street value of more than €2 million and have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Two men were initially arrested in connection with the investigation.
Gardaí have have now confirmed that two men arrested as part of the investigation have been charged.
Investigations are ongoing.
