Two bodies have been discovered in two separate Meath locations.

A post mortem examination is expected to be carried out after a body was found near Ashbourne.

The body was discovered on open ground at Kilbride, on the outskirts of Ashbourne yesterday afternoon.

The person was found dead in unexplained circumstances.

It's reported the body was found in a wooded area.

The scene was still sealed off overnight for a technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and the results of the post mortem examination will determine the course of the investigation.

Gardai in Ashbourne are investigating.

A second body has been found in County Meath.

The discovery was made at a home on Academy Street in Navan last night.

Gardai are the scene, which is currently preserved for forensic examination.
