The new President of the Technological University of the Shannon says he hopes the facility will continue to play a major part in helping attract industry and employment to the midlands region.
Professor Vincent Cunnane says he's enjoyed settling in to his new position over the past couple of months and getting to know the Athlone and wider midlands region.
The university president says the new polymer centre of excellence which will be developed over the next year will provide even more opportunity to work closely with local industry and help them develop their products.
