Student accommodation can be built by the new university in Athlone and it should help to ease the crisis locally and nationally.
That's according to the Minister of State for Skills and Further Education Niall Collins.
Speaking at the official launch of the new Technological University of the Shannon in Athlone on Friday, Niall Collins says the institution will be able to borrow money now to invest in student housing.

He says it hadn't been possible for regional colleges to borrow in the past and it's something he had pushed hard to change, especially in the current housing crisis.
