Train services delayed through Longford after bridge strike

Train services through Longford were disrupted this afternoon when a vehicle hit the railway bridge on the N63 in the town.

The 13:05hrs train from Sligo to Dublin Connolly was delayed by around 20 minutes while the lorry was removed, and bridge inspected.

The 13:00hrs Dublin Connolly to Sligo service was also delayed crossing with the 13:05 by a similar margin.

Several vehicles have hit the railway bridges on the Dublin road and Athlone roads in the town over the years, often causing some delay or disruption to rail passengers.
