The Irish State has been referred to the European Court of Justice.

A Green Party Senator has described the timing of the EU Commission's action against Ireland as poor. The Irish State has been referred to the European Court of Justice, with the case set to argue that not enough is being done to protect peatlands.

Pauline O'Reilly is Chair of the Green Party and is also set to contest a seat in the upcoming European Elections in the Midlands-Northwest constituency. Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, the Green Party senator says discussions need to continue to ensure turf-cutters are compensated fairly:
