A fundraiser has been set up to help a local family facing severe flooding in South Roscommon. Ellie McLaughlin has been battling flood waters at her cottage in Curraghboy near Lough Funshinagh after heavy and ongoing rain forced flood waters into the area from the embattled turlough.

She was forced to evacuate her three children last week, after water began to overwhelm flood defences, leaving herself days later. A Go Fund Me campaign set up by her brother has raised close to €10,000 to help support the family after they were forced to leave many of their belongings behind.

Speaking to Shannonside FM News outside her cottage on Sunday, Ellie described the heartbreak of seeing her home at the mercy of the flood waters.
