Some third-class students will return to classrooms next Monday under the government's plan for re-opening.

Mixed primary school classes will fully attend school as guidelines are being issued from the Department of Education today.

Schools will be getting advice today from the Department of Education on how to open up next week.

One of the measures of clarity is that in split classes all students will return.

So where a teacher has a mix of second and third class in one group, both years will return next Monday.

Meanwhil, politically, the re-opening plan has been criticised.

Labour leader Alan Kelly saying there's not enough there to give people any hope.

The Taoiseach Micheál Martin hit back saying it would be disingenuous to give dates for re-opening that they can't guarantee.

It comes as the Dáil is due to debate new mandatory quarantine rules for people coming into Ireland from certain countries this afternoon.
