A technical examination is taking place this morning at the scene of a fatal road traffic incident in Longford Town.
Yesterday at around 6:15pm, a collision between a man in his late teens and a bus travelling from Cavan to Athlone occurred at the Convent Road in the town.
The young man suffered fatal injuries and his body was removed to Mullingar Regional Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place.
New Street and Convent Road will remain closed this morning until at least 12pm and local diversions are in place via Teffia Park.
In a statement, Bus Éireann Chief Executive, Stephen Kent expressed his shock and sadness at the incident and said that the sympathies of all at Bus Éireann are with the family of the deceased.
He also thanked the Gardaí and emergency services for their quick response.
There were no reported injuries to the driver or any passengers.
