A forensic examination is taking place at the scene of a fatal road crash that claimed the life of a young boy in Longford.
The boy was struck by a van just after 2pm this afternoon in the Palace Cresent area of the Ardnacassa estate.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Mullingar Hospital for a post mortem examination. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling in the Palace Crescent area of Ardnacassa between 1:30pm - 2:30pm this afternoon, and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
