A local TD says social media users should be required to provide identification before setting up an account. Independent TD Denis Naughten believes online abuse was having a detrimental impact on public representatives.
The Roscommon Galway TD said a number of politicians had moved away from certain social media platforms. The former Communications Minister also claims the abuse has caused a number of politicians to step down.
