TD says government must delay new data center developments

The government needs to put restrictions on the building of data centres, to protect against the shortage of energy.

That's the view of Fine Gael TD, Michael Ring, as TikTok has plans for a second data centre in Ireland.

A CSO report released in 2021 warned that the electricity consumed by data centres in Ireland, increased by 265 per cent between 2015 and 2021.
