The Tánaiste says there are "no easy answers" to the immigration question, but says the public cannot take the law into their own hands. There have been several ongoing protests against asylum seekers moving into certain areas across the country in recent weeks.
Gardaí meanwhile are investigating after a hotel, which was due to accommodate international protection applicants, was set on fire in Galway over the weekend. Tánaiste Micheál Martin says he understands people are worried about capacity, but adds blockades and attacking buildings is wrong:
