Gardai in Longford have been granted additional time to question two men and woman in connection with an aggravated burglary in the town last night.
A man in his 30s remains in hospital Mullingar this afternoon after the incident which occurred just before 9pm in the town centre.
Three people entered and assaulted the man in a business on Great Water Street, before leaving with some of the victim's personal items - which were later recovered.
Two men aged in their 20s and 40s are currently in custody in Longford garda station, while a woman in her 20s is also being questioned by gardai in Granard Garda station.
Detectives were earlier granted an extension to the time they could question the suspects in connection with the incident, with a decision on whether to charge or release the trio expected in the coming hours.
