Stronger powers for Tusla inspectors to be discussed at Cabinet

The laws will also propose to change the legal status of childminders.

Cabinet will be asked to give stronger powers to Tusla early years inspectors.

Children's Minister Roderic O'Gorman is planning legislation to give the child and family agency enforcement powers to deal with cases where serious non-compliance with rules occurs in early years services.

It will also give parents more access to information in such cases.

The laws will also propose to change the legal status of childminders, to mark the possible future regulation of the sector.
