The state is being accused of failing to invest properly in north Roscommon - and pumping too much money into Monksland and Roscommon town. Independent councillor Tom Crosby says the Boyle Municipal District is the 'poor neighbour' of Roscommon.
At the district's AGM this morning, Councillor Micheál Frain was elected Cathaoirleach and Liam Callaghan as his deputy. Councillor Crosby says more state investment needs to come to his area:
