Temporary pumps have been shut off at Lough Funshinagh because water there has reached an agreed level. It was confirmed at a meeting of Roscommon County Council yesterday that the pumps have been switched off for now. Director of Services Mark Keaveney told members the turlough had now reached the height set out in planning regulations.
The pumps and associated pipework were installed in March. Work on a permanent overflow pipe area is expected to go to planning later this year. Local councillor Laurence Fallon says some residents have been left frustrated:
