Sligo Hospital Management acknowledge delays due to overcrowding

Management at Sligo Hospital has acknowledged the difficulties facing patients and their families due to delays at the facility.

The Emergency Department has been extremely busy over the past few days with 48 people without a bed at the hospital this afternoon.

It's understood all available beds are in use and efforts is being made to discharge patients who are ready to go home.

Saolta Management continue to request that people consider other options for non-emergency care such as their local Injury Unit, Out of Hours GP and pharmacies before attending an ED.
