Sligo ED management urge patients only to attend in emergency situations

The INMO is reporting 42 people on trolleys at the hospital today.

Management at Sligo Hospital ED are urging the public to consider other options for non-emergency care.

The A&E at the Northwest facility is recording high levels of overcrowding this week, 143 people attended the emergency department yesterday.

Saolta hospital group say there is pressure on bed availability and every effort is being made to discharge patients who are ready to go home.

The hospital acknowledges that these delays are very difficult for patients and their families and they are requesting people consider their local Injury Unit, Out of Hours GP or pharmacies before attending an ED.
