Sixteen groups across the Shannonside region have received provisional offers of funding up to €100,000 each under Strand 1 of the Just Transition Fund.

The objective of the grant aid which will total €11 million in 2020, is to fund innovative projects that contribute to the economic, social, and environmental stability of the Wider Midlands Region, and which have employment and enterprise potential.

Among the 16 projects on a list published today is the provision of a Remote Working Hub and Training Facility at Moore Community Hall, and the provision of a boardwalk at Lough Ree Bay by Roscommon County Council.

The development of a bog trail at Baylin in Westmeath also makes it onto the list, as does a feasibility study for an Anaerobic Digestion Facility at Lanesboro by Longford County Council.

Other projects include an Athlone Co-Working Hub, and Lough Ree Technology Cluster Study.

Applications seeking more than €100,000 from the Fund are still undergoing evaluation and provisional offers for those projects are expected in late October.
