The historical action game sees the main character as a fearless Viking come to Ireland to secure power and wealth.

Locations across the Shannonside Northern Sound region have been immortalized in video game form following the release of a new expansion to a massively successful video game.

Areas including Athlone, Rathcroghan, Drumlish, Croghan and Dublin are available to explore in 'Wrath of the Druids', an expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla that is set in Ireland in the 9th Century.

The game follows the life of a Viking in Ireland and allows the player to examine Irish history and everyday life in the late 9th century.

Using archaeological evidence and expert historical advice, Ubisoft Studios have constructed an explorable version of Connacht, Ulster and Leinster.

Hugo Sahuquet is the Associate Narrative Director at Ubisoft, he says that Ireland's rich heritage made the country a fantastic setting for their story.

Speaking to 'Let's Talk' today, Hugo says alot of work went into bringing locations across the region to life:
