People across the Shannonside region are being encouraged to donate this Christmas.
Earlier this month, Tesco Ireland launched its annual Christmas Appeal, which took place in 115 stores nationwide. Customers were invited to donate non-perishable food items, clothing or toys to benefit local support organisations for children and families, such as Lus na Gréine Family Resource Centre. Since 2013, €1.7 million has been donated through the annual appeal, with almost €8000 raised in total across counties Longford, Westmeath and Leitrim. The Tesco Christmas Appeal supports DEIS schoolchildren and their families across the country through the Stronger Starts programme.
The supermarket calls on the public to participate in donations taking place, and to "spread a little bit more joy this Christmas".
