Shannonside region donates over 35,000 vaccines to poorer countries

Over 35,000 vaccines have been donated to third world countries by people in the Shannonside region.

The campaign Get a Vaccine, Give a Vaccine which was rolled out by Unicef Ireland has seen the delivery of Covid jabs to vulnerable families and healthcare workers in 190 countries.

Locally, Roscommon donated over 20,000 vaccines with Leitrim and Longford donating 11,000 and 7,000 respectively.

Unicef Communications Manager Danny Smits says the people of the region recognised the need for this to be a worldwide response.
