The speculation comes as discussions continue about what measures can be taken to help people with continued increases in cost of living

Householders may be set to benefit from a second energy credit to help with rising prices.

It's reported today that a second 200 credit scheme is being considered as one of the cost-of-living measures to be contained in the budget.

It's still unclear if Budget 2023 will be brought forward to September, however Fianna Fail TD's meet today to set out their priorities of the announcements they want to see made to help struggling families.

Junior Minister Niall Collins believes there will be significant increases to welfare rates.

'Government will make that judgement call based on the amount of available additional expenditure made to us.

We have obviously got competing demands in terms of our education, our health services, our commitments to our Housing for All programme, but I think it is fair to say that in particular social welfare will have to be upped significantly.'
