Safety works on dangerous Roscommon junction to be complete by year end

Locals have been highlighting the issue following a history of incidents at the junction.

It's hoped that works to correct a dangerous junction on the N4 between Carrick-on-Shannon and Boyle will be complete before the end of the year.

Sligo-Leitrim TD Frank Feighan has confirmed that Transport Infrastructure Ireland has given the green light for an adjustment to the Cootehall turnoff.

Several crashes and near misses have been reported at the busy turn off in recent years with repeated calls for works to develop a filter lane to allow for safer access for traffic.

Tenders have now been issued by Roscommon County Council and are due for return in the next three weeks.

The Minister of State at the Department of Health is hopeful works will begin soon :
