Roscommon woman believes ongoing loss of local A&E should be highlighted

People in need of urgent care now have to go to Portiuncula or Mullingar hospital.

A Roscommon woman says she believes the impact of the closure of Roscommon Hospitals A and E unit should continue to be highlighted.

Edel, whose 75 year old mother lives almost opposite Roscommon hospital, says it's very hard to accept that she has to be brought in an ambulance to either Portiuncula or Mullingar hospital if she needs urgent attention.

She says her mother has had to face the journey to Portiuncula and Mullingar three times in recent months, and it adds to the worry on each occasion.

Edel says her mother is not someone who likes to complain, and she's sure there are many other families facing similar situations since the closure of the A and E unit.
