The Covid incidence rate in Roscommon town's Local Electoral Area has more than halved in the last fortnight.

The surrounds of the county town recorded 116 cases in the last two weeks - resulting in a per 1000 rate of 510 - down from 1328.

The downward trend of Covid cases in the community is reflected in a lower number of Covid figures in all areas of the Shannonside region between the 12th and 25th of this month according to new figures from the Covid hub.

In Roscommon, 113 cases were confirmed in the town's M.D in the last fortnight - with its incidence rate more than halving.

79 cases were confirmed in Boyle as its rate dipped from 1103 to 361.

In Athlone 57 new cases result in a rate of 285 - down from 530.

The Covid incidence rate in Longford town's Electoral Area has also dropped significantly with 80 cases of the virus confirmed between the 12th and 25th of this month and its per 100 rate is now 498 - down from 704.

36 cases have been confirmed in ballymahon and 43 in Granard in the last fortnight.

North Leitrim recorded the highest number of Covid cases in the county in the last 14 days - 32 in Manorhamilton, 31 in the Ballinamore M.D and 24 in Carrick on Shannon.
