The latest relaxation of restrictions surrounding the entertainment industry is being warmly welcomed by artists in particular.

Nightclubs are making final preparations to reopen for the first time in more than 18 months.

Many live gig venues are also getting ready to put on their first sold-out shows since the pandemic began.

Indoor gig venues have been restricted to 60 percent capacity and seating only up to now.

But from today, 100 percent of seats can be filled and up to 1,500 people are allowed to stand.

Arlene is a singer-songwriter from Roscommon who admits the last 18 months for everyone in the arts and entertainment industry has been very difficult.

She says that it's great to get back rehearsing and to begin performing again.

Arlene's first gig back behind the mic is on Saturday, October 30th at Kenny's Bar in Ballintubber and is then playing Whelan's in Dublin in November.
