Roscommon MEP spent over €37,000 on re-election campaign

Roscommon MEP Luke Ming Flanagan spent over €37,000 on his campaign to be re-elected to the European Parliament last year.

The Castlerea native spent over €12,000 on social media ads on Twitter and Facebook.

EU Commissioner Mairead McGuinness spent over €50,000 on her successful campaign while a detailed breakdown of spending was not available for now TD Matt Carthy or MEP Maria Walsh with their respective parties of Sinn Fein and Fine Gael picking up the tabs on spending.

€150,000 was assigned to Sinn Fein for spending on the Monaghan man with €220,000 assigned to Fine Gael for the former Rose of Tralee.

Former Dragon's Den Star Peter Casey spent just over €50,000 - with €26,000 on advertising and Saoirse McHugh spent over €5000 on Facebook advertising - out of a campaign total of €11,761.
