The official opening took place in November.

The recently opened Roscommon Hospice is not likely to be accessible to patients until the end of March.

Although the eight-bed unit is fully finished, the Hospice is currently working with the HSE and Saolta Hospital Group to finalise a lease.

The 6.3 million euro development was opened last month and when operational will provide end of life care as well as day services, therapy rooms and a base for home care teams.

CEO of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Martina Jennings says funding has been put in place by the Minister for Health to ensure the running of the facility.

She's hopeful that it will open to patients before the end of the first quarter of 2022.
