Roscommon Council is inviting people over 70 who might like their portraits painted to contact them for a unique opportunity.

The project is part of the KEEP WELL campaign being delivered by the council and Healthy Ireland and involves a professional artist painting a portrait of an older person over Zoom.

The sitters need to be over 70 and to be either cocooning in their homes or a resident of a nursing home in the county.

There are 4 places available to be filled on the project and anyone interested is asked to email arts officer Rhona McGrath at [email protected] before Friday January 29th.

The people chosen for the sittings will get their finished portrait to keep.

Rhona McGrath says this is Phase 2 of a project which has seen the Sligo based artist Andy Parsons paint portraits of 16 people in the north west counties in the past year.
