Roscommon County Council is calling on the Department of Heritage and the National Parks and Wildlife to carry out an assessment on the SAC status

Roscommon County Council is calling on the Department of Heritage and the National Parks and Wildlife to carry out an assessment on the SAC status of Lough Funshinagh.

Independent Councillor Donal Kilduff received support from all his colleagues last week for a report to be prepared on the impact of the
ongoing flood on the biodiversity and natural heritage of the area.

There are now 45 farms seriously impacted by the floods on their lands, with Councillor Tony Ward calling for compensation for those
farmers.

Roscommon County Council has given assurances that it will do everything in its power to protect the most vulnerable house from being flooded this year.

Councillor Kilduff maintains that the area needs to be fully reassessed to untangle the layers of bureaucracy that are preventing a solution being approved:
