A Fianna Fail County Councillor for Roscommon has announced she will not contest next year's local election.
Orla Leyden confirmed her intention to finish in her position as a county councillor in the Roscommon Municipal District at the end of the current term.
Councillor Leydon was first elected to Roscommon County Council in 2004 and subsequently re-elected in 2009, 2014 and 2019.

According to the Fianna Fail Councillor, she has not ruled out a future role in political life, but intends to pursue other interests once her five year mandate ends next year.
In a statement to Shannonside News, she paid tribute to her family, her council colleagues and the Fianna Fail party for their assistance and support over the last 20 years.
