Roscommon Councillor welcomes CDP clause on wind turbines

Roscommon councillor Orla Leyden says she glad to have gotten the support of her colleagues about inserting a holding clause in the new County Development Plan for wind energy.

The development plan for the county is going out to public consultation now and is due to be adopted by the middle of next year.

Councillor Orla Leyden says given the fact that new guidelines for wind turbines are now over 15 years delayed, it was necessary to allow for that in the new county plan.

The Fianna Fail councillor says new guidelines will hopefully bring a more progressive approach, and she would like to see much better encouragement for local communities on wind turbines.
