Roscommon Cathaoirleach proposes reform to verge trimming system

Verge trimming is a road maintenance operation conducted by local authorities, during which grass is cut on the side of the road to enhance visibility for people and motorists at junctions.

A local councillor is calling for a complete reform to the verge trimming model in Roscommon.
Councillor and Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Paschal Fitzmaurice, said he was "deeply unhappy" with the verge trimming that took place along local roads over the summer.
