Roscommon candidate says taxi shortage impacting night-time economy

A local elections candidate says the shortage of late-night taxis in Roscommon town must be addressed. Fianna Fáil candidate Larry Brennan, who also runs a well-known pub in the town, says the issue is affecting the night-time economy. He said the recent pandemic lockdowns saw a number of operators exiting the market and those left are now unable to cope with demand.

Mr Brennan, who was unsuccessful in the 2009 and 2014 local elections, said there was also a lack of Local Link services in the town. Speaking to Shannonside News, he said a lack of public transport was one of the major issues in rural Roscommon:
