Roscommon University Hospital has appointed its first Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Acute Medicine.

Audrey Dalton Gleeson graduated as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in New York and gained vast experience while working in urgent care centres and Emergency Departments in hospitals and Universities in New York.

After returning from New York in 2014, Audrey worked in the Emergency Department at University Hospital Galway and in 2016 transferred to the Urgent Care Centre at Roscommon University Hospital.

In her new role, Ms Gleeson will be able to independently prescribe appropriate medication, appropriate diagnostics, admit, evaluate or refer to other specialists if necessary.
