One million euro is to be spent on resurfacing the N5 from Tulsk to Ballinagare.
The surface of the road has fallen into disrepair and become very rough and uneven with councillors receiving large volumes of complaints from motorists.
The programme will build upon the work carried out last year on the east side of Tulsk.
