Rise in demand for eating disorder services in Roscommon

There has been an almost 80% increase in the number of people referred to mental health services for possible eating disorders in Roscommon this year compared to 2020.

New figures published by the HSE reveal that a total of nine people referred to CAMHS Services and/or Community Psychology Services seeking support for a suspected diagnosis of an eating disorder in CHO2 in 2020

However, to date in 2021, the figure is 16, a rise of just over 77%.

According to the HSE, urgent referrals are responded to within three working days of receipt of referral and seen as soon as possible based on clinical risk and routine referrals are seen within 12 weeks or sooner depending on service demands
