Rich countries called on to meet climate change targets ahead of Cop26 event

The Taoiseach will address the conference tomorrow.

There are calls for rich countries to deliver on their commitments at a major UN climate conference which begins in Glasgow today.

Cop26 will see political leaders from across the globe gather for what's being described as the last chance to save the world from global warming.

Ireland's plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 will be outlined at the event by the Taoiseach tomorrow.

It's unlikely any of the countries attending the Cop26 Climate Conference will meet its climate targets, according to an environmental journalist.

Over one hundred world leaders will be attending the event in Glasgow over the coming days, in what's being described as one of the most important United Nations Climate Summits ever.
